Despite the depressed economy’s negative impact on risk taking, investment and entrepreneurship in general, 3 seasoned entrepreneurs have bucked the trend by launching Life at Play, an affordable and hip business in the multi-billion dollar personal and special event industry.
Life at Play uses state-of-the-art, interactive, open photo stations to enhance personal and corporate events. Even though fun and relatively easy to market and operate, Life at Play is fully supported by sophisticated photography and photo gifting software developed by former executives of Sear’s Portrait Studios. The software, among other things, prints any commercial or personal trademark or message directly on event guests’ photos and reaches out to guests after the event to thank them for attending, remind them of the fun they had at the event and encourage them to both share their photographs using social media tools and order additional prints and customized photo gifting items. Using such things as professional grade music, trained attendants, props and real time slide shows of event guests themselves as they enjoy the photo station, Life at Play gets event guests to “come out of their shells,” making the photos they make (event guests take their own photos with a remote) especially memorable and “share-worthy.” More “touches” initiated after the event by guests’ sharing their playful photography make corporate and personal events and messages more memorable.
“We’ve created a business that elevates the fun of personal events and increases the impact of corporate events. We’re an event photography, photo gifting, entertainment, marketing and premium company rolled into one. We’re an event all by ourselves,” says Vafa Foroughi, a medical doctor, entrepreneur and the President and a Co-Founder of Life at Play. “Unlike the typical event photography business, which uses an enclosed booth or box, our hardware and software allow event guests to come alive, interact and play with us, resulting in memories from the event that are, frankly, sometimes better than the events themselves,” adds Vahid Kazerooni, the COO and a Co-Founder of Life at Play and an expert in the field of computer software and hardware.
While Life at Play’s hardware and software make it unique in its industry, its events are competitively priced, usually around 20% less than photo boxes. “Weddings, corporate parties, corporate sponsorships, holiday parties, trade shows, fairs, conventions, personal parties, bar mitzvahs, quinceaneras, sweet sixteens, graduation parties or other personal or corporate events or at theatres, clubs, hotels, banquet facilities and other venues; if it’s an event or a venue where events happen; Life at Play will make your event and your event business better,” says Eric Riess, CEO and a Co-Founder of Life at Play. “Some of the most exciting aspects of this concept,” added Riess, “are the obvious fun people have using our photo stations and the ease of replication of the business to other market territories.” Riess, a founder of the Franchise Broker’s Association in Orlando, Florida, reveals that Life at Play’s ultimate goal is to franchise its concept, selling a business that franchisees can acquire for under $ 100,000, making their acquisition much less costly than traditional brick and mortar operations. “We will be extremely competitive in the franchising industry in all respects including all-in investment cost, operating cost, support and size of exclusive territories for our franchisees. We’re creating a franchise that’s affordable and a joy to own and run,” Riess said. “I’ve dealt with hundreds of franchise concepts over my many years as a franchise CPA, attorney and advisor . . . we’ve created something special here. Something that prospective franchisees and franchise brokers will really like.”
Life at Play has already been selected as the event photography solution for the Gateway PGA Foundation Pro-Am Event to be held at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri on June 1st and 2nd and has numerous other personal and corporate events on its calendar. The Co-Founders are extremely proud to have created a concept which adds tremendous value, not only for their clients and their respective guests, but for franchisees as well. Life at Play is a business that’s thoroughly thought out, supported by proprietary software and systems, fun to market and operate and offers a low cost of entry. It’s a business made to fit this economy
